Soft Power in World Politics

What is soft power, what role does it play in world politics and how is it used by authoritarian states? Recently we asked some of our authors to discuss these questions

At this year’s Political Studies Association annual conference we gathered together authors from our Soft Power of Hard States Special Issue to discuss the concept of soft power and the role it plays in world politics – particularly as a tool of diplomacy for authoritarian states.

SAGE recorded the discussion between Carla Figueira, Kingsley Edney, Edward Wastnidge, Illya Yablokov and Kyle Grayson. You can view it here
