Louise Thompson

Louise Thompson is Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on the UK Parliament, particularly the legislative process, committees, political parties and public engagement within Parliament. Her wider research interests are in legislative studies, British politics and constitutional reform. Louise has published widely on the impact of parliament on government legislation and continue to research in this area. In 2018 she was awarded an ESRC New Investigator grant to study small parties in the UK's Parliaments. Louise is also interested in pedagogical research and has published work on the use of parliamentary sources and audience response systems in political science teaching. Louise completed her PhD on public bill committees at the University of Hull (2013) and was previously Lecturer in British Politics at the University of Surrey (2013-2018).
